How do I obtain a copy of my driving record?

Visit www.kansas.gov/mvr and access your driving record online. The fee you should pay will cost $6.60. You can access this online service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You can go to any Kansas Driver’s License Exam or Renewal Station and request copies of your driving record. Do not forget to bring your current driver’s license for identification purposes. Despite that, you will need to make a payment by check or money order payable to “Driver Control”.

Another available option is that you can visit the State of Kansas Driver’s License Bureau at the Docking State Office Building in Topeka during business hours. Other than this, you can send a written request with the following information: full name, driver’s license number, date of birth, and current address along with your $10.00 payment to Driver Control Bureau, PO Box 12021, Topeka, KS 66612-2021.

How to Check the Driver’s License Record?

There are 3 options for requesting your driver’s license records in Kansas

  • In Person,
  • By Mail, and
  • Online.

The Department of Revenue’s Driver Control Bureau supervises Kansas driving records. The agency offers access to limited driver’s license records, certified and uncertified motor vehicle records.

In Person

Visit the local DMV office and request access to either certified or uncertified motor vehicle records. You should be prepared to wait and spend a long time in line at the DMV office.

The procure is very simple: complete the Request Form provided by the state and submit the document. You can visit the Kansas DMV location website and find your local DMV office.

There is one thing we need to add here. You will have to pay a fee and deliver it together with the form. For instance, the fee for the vehicle registration record is $10. On the other hand, the motor vehicle record is $10 as well. We once again recommend you check the request form and see what fee you will have to pay.

By Mail

For the ones who are busy and want to finish the procedure as quickly as possible, request non-certified or certified motor vehicle records through the mail. Fill out the same request form mentioned above, and mail it to the following address – Kansas Department of Revenue, Driver Control Bureau, P.O. Box 12021, Topeka, KS 66612-2021. Keep in mind that you will also have to make deliver proof of payment together with the request. You can make the payment in form of checks or money.

How do I obtain a copy of another person’s driving record if approved by that individual?

For requesting another person’s driving record you should visit the State of Kansas Driver’s License Bureau at the Docking State Office Building in Topeka, or send a letter with the following information including the person’s full name, driver’s license number, date of birth, and your current mailing address to Driver Control Bureau, PO Box 12021, Topeka, KS 66612-2021. Another necessary document that you need to provide is a signed letter by the driver which allows you to have a copy of their record or a completed 3rd Party Consent Form (TR/DL301).

The Consent form fills the driver with the submitted payment for a $10.00 fee. Check or money order is accepted payable to “Driver Control”. Cash payments can be accepted also, only in the case they come In-Person to the State of Kansas Driver’s License Bureau in Topeka.
